There are plenty of trails (chemins) to follow in Limousin, around many lakes and also in the huge nature reserve parks. There are also trails in the Auvergne so that you can
trek volcanoes. Most trails are graded, so please check for further information with either the Tourist Board or the National Park. If you have any difficulties finding the
right trails for you, please contact us for assistance. We have copies of walking maps that you may consult during your stay.
The nearby Ambazac Hills are popular for walks and reach 800m through woodland with the reward of lovely views. The nearby Aboretum (a 15 minute drive away) provides an easy
pretty walk (easy enough for small children) with plenty of picnic spots to be enjoyed.
Many walks take in historic sites and dramatic scenery (waterfalls, gorges etc.)
For those interested in a quicker pace, there are several running and cycling events to either take place in or just watch. In particular the famous Gendames et Voleurs race
held in Ambazac, and the races hels at Lac Saint Pardoux. Please ask us for details. |
