There is a fantastic and atmospheric market held every
second Sunday of the month in the streets around the
Cathedral in Limoges that boasts all sorts of antiques
and bric-a-brac. There is a massive variety of furniture,
chandeliers, porcelain, linen, toys, farm tools, pictures,
stamps, postcards, books and other mysterious objects
on sale here. You may fall in love with something, or
you may just enjoy the ambience. Do negotiate the price
if you can, and if you can't, you can always visit one
of the many brocante or trocante outlets in the area
to see if you can do better.
There are plenty of smaller local brocante markets and vide grenier (attic clearance) that are often worth a look; just pop into the Tourist office to get the local list, or ask
us.
Trocs are always worth a look, and sell everything from
the most dreadful junk to lovely 'undiscovered' antiques
and objets d'art. It's up to you to keep your eyes peeled!
There is also a specialist book market in Limoges.
If you are interested in browsing for antique bargains
(and we think there are some to be had judging from
the amount of British dealers buying stock here), please
let us know and we can point you in the right direction
for the best!
